![]() ![]() You could sink thousands of hours into Jedi Academy trying to master saber and force techniques and trying to create new styles that no one had thought of, because there was so much variety in force types and saber control. They have great graphics and stories, but multiplayer and its depth of combat are sorely missing. That is what is missing from these new games like Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor. You could join clans and rank up although there was politics involved. ![]() There were the Star Wars nerds that obeyed the rules and roleplayed and took everything seriously, then the trolls that stirred shit up and broke rules for laughs. Multiplayer was very popular and there were constantly people creating drama in public chat, with the admins then coming to punish them in various ways. There were rival clans from different servers that would visit each other to fight or be allies. But naturally, people wanted to start shit and would break this rule, leading to constant drama. There was a rule on most servers called "No Laming", which meant that you weren't allowed to attack players who had their lightsabers put away. They had rank structures with leaders and Padawans and everything in between. That is, until you meet another skilled player. There was no MMR so if you were a good player, you felt like a God and could dominate a server with your force and saber mastery, even winning 1 v 3's against inexperienced players. The good players would sometimes train the beginners to help them get good, especially within clans. The skill ceiling was super high, so beginners got demolished by veterans who were quite competitive among one another and you could always hone your skills. I even created some of my own maps which I never really finished. No Force specialized in lightsaber skill with only Jump as your force power, so this is where you would go to hone duel skills with precision combat techniques and tactics that had far more depth than Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor.Īlso there was CTF mode, team free for all, duel modes, and mods with so many cool maps. For instance, you could force choke someone and kick them repeatedly while spinning them around and to get out of the choke they had to use Force Pull, Force Push, or Force Absorb. Full force gave you full force powers with fast regeneration, and it was utter chaos with complicated tactics. You could keep challenging them to rematches or ask them to teach you their secrets.Įach server had somewhat different settings, but there were two main schools: Full Force and No Force. ![]() It was proper etiquette to bow before/after duels to show respect, but you were free to not do that, or even use taunt emotes to disrespect and succumb to the dark side. You could walk up to players and challenge them to 1 vs 1 duels to test your saber skills. You would remember which players were the really good ones that you wanted to beat. Because you can pick servers, you got to know the regulars on each server and there were cliques. You could choose which servers you joined and so the Free For All mode servers became like a hangout where you could just chill and talk, or engage in battle. ![]() There was Free For All mode, where you could have epic saber battles with several players, with and without force powers. You could customize your player with various skins and a colored name tag that you could change on a whim. You had all 3 saber types in Academy: single, staff and dual. I barely played the Single Player in those games, multiplayer was where the real fun was at. But the Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy multiplayer community made the game legendary. Don't get me wrong, these new games are decent and the graphics are obviously better. ![]()
